![]() Just hard to believe they couldn't get something that essential and basic working properly in an intuitive way. Had I known I would have bought something else. I've struggled for over an hour with it, and it's So good luck just trying to create a simple font of glyphs as 'sprites' or whatever for your macOS or iOS app like TypeTool was great for, and assign whatever unicode value you wanted per-font. However, trying to assign UNICODE and find and map font indices are an obtuse nightmare with Glyphs app, compared to TypeTool. Rather than pay $400 to upgrade too Fontlab, I tried this product. I had TypeTool formerly before it was unsupported with Catalina. Further, if I try to add to the font the letter A, with a fixed UNICODE value of 0x0047, then copy a glyph over to the A, the bounding box does not expand and there's no visual way to change it with the GUI. For example if import an OTF font assigned a UNICODE # in FontLab Glyphs renames it UNI000x with the UNICODE number but seems to lose the actual UNICODE value in the info window. Features just aren't there or are extremely awkward to use. But no, it's way too limited compared to FontLabs old TypeTool. They name it glyphs like it would be useful for making actual glyphs like one might want for a phone app. This is so limited and cumbersome and non-intuitive for copying fonts, visually changing bounding box, assigning and viewing UNICODE font numbers and figuring out the font indicies for glyphs. Pretty useless for trying to work with UNICODE and indices ![]() Oh, how I wish for a vector graphics auto-trace tool, or a plugin for Illustrator and for Affinity Designer that would make tracing scanned images easier, and another that might make creating fonts from vector graphics artwork easier, rather than copy and paste individual characters. I am liking a lot about Glyphs Mini as I discover how to do things. It's highly possible I'm missing how to do things that the program.already does. glyphs format, but it would be so useful to be abel to go back and forth, round trip, when getting used to Glyphs. I have old files I'd love to import into Glyphs. fog and FontLab users might want to switch to Glyphs / Glyphs Mini, as I am exploring to do now. This would be so useful, particularly since Fontographer no longer works with the newest macOS system, and. fog (Fontographer format or the newer FontLab 6 or 7 formats. * Glyphs Mini does not appear to import / export old. I'm doing very basic construction plus trying copy and paste from Affinity Designer or other vector drawing apps. What am I missing? I am sure there's a way to do this. ![]() But so far, I have not figured out the mouse/keyboard combo to do this from exisitng points. Two workshops for type designers of all levels: get up to par with the latest tech in two intensive Glyphs workshop days, powered by READSEARCH institute. * I'm used to dragging out handles for the bézier control points with option-drag in old Fontographer and Freehand and some other vector graphics programs. As soon as you release the Alt Key, the Squared ( ) symbol should appear in your document. 0178), release the Alt key you pressed down. Press and hold the Alt key and type 0178 using the numeric keypad. I really would prefer a Dark Mode for editing characters / glyphs. Use Fn key + NumLk keys to turn on Num Lock on laptops without the numeric keypad. The font / character map window obeys Dark Mode and regular Light Mode. * I can't find where to change the background and foreground colors for the glyph editing window. I’ve already contacted Tim.I like several things about Glyphs Mini, but I am still getting used to it. ![]() I am really and totally frustrated and deceived with you. Your app is excessively and ubiquitously buggy. I had to clean Glyphs Mini caches and cookies to remove the font and the warning.Īfter cleaning the caches and the cookies, I opened the app with a font, it closed and trashed. Glyphs Mini with the permanent and eternal warning of locked font no longer allows me to open and edit other fonts. While I kept that warning of the locked font, I tried to open with other fonts, but it trashed and closed. Glyphs Mini is turning impossible for me to open the other fonts, because that same warning of locked font always appears like an eternal and locks me every time I open the app. I duplicated, but I kept receiving repeatedly the same warning, it duplicated more than 5 times everywhere. I opened an open source font with it, it warned me that it is locked and it suggested me to duplicate. Today I purchased the Gylphs Mini 2, with the help of Tim Forssman, but the app is very buggy now.
